Chelsea are facing competition to sign Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal, with Inter Milan looking to sign the Croatian midfielder.
The Italian side are reportedly looking to bring Kovacic back to Milan, with Corriere dello Sport, via Inside Futbol, reporting that the allure of working with Antonio Conte could be enough to bring the midfielder back to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
Kovacic has spent the 2018/19 season on loan at the Blues, and could make the move permanent this Summer.
As Kovacic would not be a new registration for Chelsea, he could be signed from Real Madrid on a permanent deal, despite now having the greatest of seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Therefore, Kovacic may return to Chelsea next season, but he could return to Inter, where he spent the majority of his early career.
It was performances for Inter that earned Kovacic a move to Real Madrid, before the Croatian struggled to get into the first team at the La Liga giants.
