Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has encouraged his teammates to grab Wednesday’s Europa League final against Arsenal in Baku by the scruff of the neck and end their season off with a trophy.
Maurizio Sarri’s men will have to do it without three important players in N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi who are all currently injured.
The two young English men have had an impressive second half of the season with Hudson-Odoi finally breaking into the Chelsea squad before rupturing his Achilles tendon last month.
Loftus-Cheek on the other hand had cemented his spot in the left side of Chelsea’s midfield before his unfortunate Achilles injury in a recent post- season match in the US.
The latter gave that Chelsea side some different in which were goals from the midfield in which the other Chelsea midfielders just don’t offer.
Kante is the recent and most devastating blow for Chelsea as he’s the engine in the heart of the Chelsea midfield.
The Chelsea skipper told Goal:
It is an extra motivation for us. Both of them were very unfortunate with their injuries. They were both in their best moment of the season, playing regularly and were important for the team. They deserve us to give everything for them. Hopefully, we can do it.
It has been an up and down season for Chelsea but to finish the season off in third place and a trophy would be a great achievement.
