Derby not expecting Mount to return next season

Derby County are not expecting to sign Mason Mount on loan from Chelsea for a second spell next season.

According to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, Derby are hopeful of being able to sign Fikayo Tomori for another year, but believe that Mount will stay at Chelsea or move elsewhere.

Derby signed Mount on a season-long loan from Chelsea last summer and the youngster has enjoyed an impressive season in the Championship.

The 20-year-old midfielder racked up 38 Championship appearances for Derby, scoring nine and assisting four from central midfield.

He helped them to reach the play-off final, where they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa at Wembley, denying them a place in the Premier League next season.

Mount will now be hoping he can impress Maurizio Sarri in pre-season and fight for a place in the Chelsea first-team.
