Jose Mourinho praises Bruno Fernandes amid Chelsea interest

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes has all of the qualities needed to succeed in the Premier League amid interest from the Blues, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Fernandes enjoyed a standout campaign for Sporting last season, scoring an impressive 32 goals and creating 18 assists from midfield in all competitions.

The Premier League trio have all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent weeks, and according to Manchester Evening News via Eleven Sports, Mourinho believes interest in Fernandes is understandable as the midfielder “has it all.”

I was surprised by the season of Bruno Fernandes. It was easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but [he] scored a very high number of goals for a midfield player.

It shows that you need to have instinct and qualities to score and he has it all. He strikes the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He finds space in the penalty area. It’s all there.

A move from Chelsea for the midfielder is clearly restricted by the imminent two-window transfer ban FIFA have imposed on the Blues, meaning both Manchester sides have the upper hand in the race for the 24-year-old.
