Chelsea have reportedly identified Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes as Eden Hazard’s long-term replacement and have offered £62m for the Portuguese international.
According to Plaza Deportiva, cited by the Daily Express, the Blues have made the offer for the winger through his agent Jorge Mendes.
The 22-year-old was one of Valencia’s standout performers last season, helping the club to a fourth-place finish in La Liga as well as the last four in the Europa League.
Guedes, who scored eight goals and provided four assists for Valencia last season, was also the hero for Portugal in the Nations League final against the Netherlands, with his second-half strike proving the difference between the two sides.
Chelsea have a two-window transfer ban looming over them this summer, however, the Blues have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over the ruling.
In a best-case scenario, Chelsea will have their two-window transfer ban frozen this summer, meaning they can complete a potential deal for the impressive Guedes ahead of the new campaign.
Where would Guedes rank in Chelsea's record buys if he completes a £62m move?
Jorginho - £50m
Midfielder Jorginho became Maurizio Sarri’s first signing as Chelsea boss, with the Italian joining Sarri from Napoli in a deal worth £50m last year.
Fernando Torres - £50m
Chelsea secured the services of Torres back in 2011 from Liverpool in a deal worth £50m. The Spaniard went on to win three major honours during his four-year Stamford Bridge stay.
Christian Pulisic - £58m
The Blues spent £58m on Borussia Dortmund’s Pulisic back in January, with the American preparing for his first season with the Blues this summer.
Goncalo Guedes - *£62m
If the Blues secure Guedes’ services for £62m this summer, it would make the winger Chelsea’s most expensive outfield player of all time.
Kepa Arrizabalaga - £71m
Chelsea’s record signing is keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spaniard joined from Athletic Bilbao for £71m last summer following Thibaut Courtois’ move to Real Madrid.
