Chelsea will consider offers for defender Davide Zappacosta this summer, according to a report on Calcio Mercato.
The Italian news site states that Chelsea will entertain bids for the right back, who could be one of three Italians to leave the London club this summer after Maurizio Sarri departed for Juventus and Gianfranco Zola expecting to leave Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old signed for the Blues from Torino in a £22.5 million deal two years ago while Antonio Conte was still in charge.
However, the defender has failed to force his way into the starting line up ahead of Caesar Azpilicueta and has been forced to play a bit-part role, making just 26 Premier League appearances.
Now it seems Chelsea are ready to cut their losses with Zappacosta and move him on ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, despite a transfer ban meaning they won’t be able to replace him in the squad with a new signing.
The 13-time Italian international has been linked with a move back to his homeland, with AS Roma said to be interested.
Four of the best Italians to play for Chelsea
Roberto Di Matteo
Di Matteo both played for and managed Chelsea, enjoying plenty of success with the Blues. He won six trophies as a player and guided the club to an FA Cup and their only Champions League title in 2012.
Zola scored 80 goals in 312 appearances for Chelsea during his seven years with the club and is fondly remembered by fans. He was a part of Maurizio Sarri’s coaching staff last season but looks set to be leaving.
Cudicini spent ten years at Chelsea, making 216 appearances and keeping 101 clean sheets. He spent much of the last five years of his time with the Blues on the bench but is seen as a great servant to the club.
Another to both play for and manage Chelsea, Vialli is often overlooked for his achievements. He scored 40 goals in 88 games before winning five trophies in under three years while in charge.
