One of Chelsea’s top players and fan favourites could potentially miss the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season, according to reports on the Telegraph.
Antonio Rudiger suffered a knee injury in one of Chelsea’s final games of the season vs Manchester United on April 28 which meant he had to have surgery. Now, it is likely that the centre-back will miss the Blue’s next clash with United, and first game of the season on August 11.
Last season, Rudiger was part of Maurizio Sarri’s starting 11 more or less all season long, and next season it would probably be the same. So, to start the season without him, and potentially some others who are a big presence in the side could mean Chelsea’s start is impacted.
The new boss of Chelsea has not yet been confirmed, whoever it is could have a task on their hands when they arrive – especially as Chelsea are still on their transfer ban.
