Willian snubs surprise Shanghai Shenhua move

Chelsea wide man Willian has reportedly turned down a lucrative three-year deal to sign for Shanghai Shenhua this summer.

According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, cited by Sports Witness, the Chinese giants were prepared to pay the 30-year-old €12m a year for the next three seasons in order to lure him east.

However, the experienced winger, who has also attracted interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in recent days, isn’t thought to be interested in a move to China, as he wants to continue his career in Europe.

The free-kick specialist, who has 12 months left on his current Chelsea deal, was also offered lucrative benefits in a potential move to China, including a paid apartment, cars and plane tickets.

After turning down the proposal, Willian looks set to play another important role in the Chelsea side next season, especially after the departure of Eden Hazard.

The Brazilian has made over 200 Blues appearances in his six-year stay, with Chelsea thought to be keen on extending his time in London in the coming months.
