Willian tips Lampard to succeed as Chelsea manager

Chelsea forward Willian claims that he would welcome Frank Lampard back to Stamford Bridge with open arms if he is awarded the vacant managerial position.

The Blues haven’t announced a replacement for Maurizio Sarri yet after the Italian coach left London for Juventus, however it appears that club legend Lampard is the frontrunner by some distance to land in the Stamford Bridge hot-seat.

And Willian, who played alongside the former England international during the 2013/14 season, believes that Lampard would be a good addition to the club.

Talking exclusively to Football London, the Brazil international said:

He is a legend. He was an extraordinary player for the club, winning every possible title.

He deserves so much respect and backing for what he has already achieved at the club. If Chelsea do bring him in, he will be very welcome.

Despite Lampard’s coaching career still being in its infancy, Willian believes he would be up to the task if called upon. He continued:

Is he definitely going to be the next manager? I don’t know. But I think he would be up to the task.

He was a great player, and he is a great person. He’s only starting his managerial career now, but he has everything it takes to be a success.
