Kovacic set to complete Chelsea move today

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic is reportedly set to complete his permanent move to Chelsea today after agreeing personal terms yesterday.

Despite being under a two-window transfer ban, Chelsea are expected to announce the £40million signing of Kovacic considering he is already registered by the club.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Stamford Bridge and won’t breach the ban if he signs on the dotted line before his contract expires on June 30.

According to highly reputable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Kovacic agreed to join the Blues permanently yesterday and should sign today.

The Croatia international made 32 Premier League appearances under Maurizio Sarri last season and helped Chelsea to lift the Europa League, as well as finish in the top four.

He’ll join Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic as the club’s two incomings this summer ahead of Frank Lampard taking charge as manager.
