Chelsea picked up their first win of pre-season with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over St Patrick’s Athletic.
The Blues endured a 1-1 draw against Bohemians in their opening pre-season clash, but bounced back with an impressive display against St Patrick’s on Saturday.
Academy product Mason Mount opened the scoring after 14 minutes, as he looks to show that he can play for the club in the Premier League next season.
Brazilian defender Emerson then doubled Chelsea’s lead before the interval. He will be preparing to battle Marcos Alonso for the left-back berth next term.
Lampard then made a host of changes for the second half and French international Olivier Giroud found the back of the net twice to round off the scoring.
Giroud scored in the 67th and 88th minute, with the World Cup winner the current favourite to be Lampard’s first-choice forward in the Premier League.
