Chelsea are in advanced talks with Trevor Chalobah regarding a new contract, according to a report by the Football Insider.

Chalobah enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Ipswich Town last season, despite their relegation, and the 20-year-old is now in line to secure a new long-term deal at Stamford Bridge before being sent out on loan again to prove his worth to Frank Lampard after taking part in the first team’s pre-season tour of Ireland.

Multiple clubs have expressed an interest in taking Chalobah on loan, with promotion hopefuls Fulham and West Brom identified as the front runners for his signature.

The England U-20 international has risen through the ranks at Chelsea, but thus far has only been subjected to three unused substitute appearances for the first team, and the plan is to aid his progression through another loan spell.

Chalobah has just two years left on his current deal, and a new contract will be swiftly negotiated before the club decide where to send the youngster on loan this season.
