Palace considering move for Reece James

Crystal Palace are considering a move for Chelsea right-back Reece James this summer.

According to The Daily Mail, Palace have discussed a potential swoop for the England youth international.

The report claims that their main target is Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne, but James is on their list of targets as they look to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka – who joined Manchester United for £50m earlier this summer.

Chelsea already have Cesar Azpilicueta and Davide Zappacosta as their options at right-back, which could allow Frank Lampard to send James out on loan for another season – possibly to Palace.

James spent last season at Wigan in the Championship and caught the eye with his superb performances at both right-back and defensive midfield.

The talented teenager earned himself a place in the Championship Team of the Season, as Wigan just avoid relegation.

He has, however, recently had surgery on an injury picked up on international duty and could miss the start of the season.
