After their impressive display against Barcelona in Japan, Chelsea head back to England to face Reading with a newfound confidence as they seek to round off their pre-season in style.
Frank Lampard’s men are approaching the back end of their pre-season fixtures, having already played a double-header in both Japan and Ireland, and with more senior players gaining minutes.
The tactical vision set out by Lampard and his backroom staff seems to be paying dividends even if it was against a Barcelona side severely lacking in match fitness.
N’Golo Kante still appears to be sidelined with a knee injury and is in desperate need of some game time ahead of the new season, whilst Willian has yet to return from Copa America duties after himself suffering from an injury.
Chelsea are also likely to come against a familiar foe in young American centre-half Matt Miazga, who recently joined Reading on loan following a successful spell at the Madejski Stadium last season.
