Leicester eye Chilwell replacement amid Chelsea links

Leicester City could be lining up a Celtic reunion between Brendan Rodgers and Kieran Tierney to replace Ben Chilwell, amid continued Chelsea links.

According to 90min, the Foxes are lining up a £25million move for Arsenal’s Tierney in case Chilwell departs for Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The report claims that the 23-year-old left-back appears set to move on from the King Power Stadium, with Chelsea and Manchester City his biggest suitors.

Chilwell has featured 21 times for Leicester during their impressive Premier League campaign so far and, according to WhoScored, has been the club’s sixth-highest performer.

Frank Lampard has been heavily linked with a move for Chilwell and although the left-back area could be strengthened, I don’t think it should be a priority this summer.

In my opinion, Chelsea could do with guaranteed goals more than anything and with Pedro and Willian’s contracts nearing expiration, the forward line probably requires fresh reinforcements.

The Blues have already improved in midfield, as I believe Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech could bring instant creativity after providing 12 assists in 19 Eredivisie games this season.

Apart from Tammy Abraham, Michy Batshuayi (1) is the only other striker to score for Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

I don’t think the 22-year-old can be expected to provide goals all by himself in the future, so I expect that area to be deemed a higher priority once the transfer window re-opens.
