Chelsea have finally completed the first major transfer of the Frank Lampard era, bringing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, with the Moroccan star poised to join the club at the end of the season.
Ziyech has been a name one everyone’s lips over the past 18 months to two years following a number of dazzling displays for Ajax during their famous run to the Champions League semi-finals, where they eventually lost to Tottenham.
Known for his impressive assists and eye-catching passes, Ziyech could be the man to finally knit Frank Lampard’s Chelsea together next season. His arrival will certainly boost their Champions League hopes and with sportsbetting 24, you can back the Blues to finish in the top four.
In spells, Lampard’s Chelsea have been impressive this season, but the general consensus is that they’re still lacking that little something extra in the final third. Tammy Abraham has done well in his first full season of Premier League football in a blue shirt, while the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount also deserve recognition. Between them, they have eight assists, while Willian has another four.
Ziyech, albeit in the Eredivisie, has 12 on his own this season and that added service could be the trick to unlocking Chelsea’s attacking potential under Lampard. During his maiden campaign in charge at the Bridge, supporters have seen flashes of brilliance in the final third, with the club’s former midfielder trying to implement a more free-flowing, attacking style of play.
Playing on the right wing, Ziyech has the potential to slot into Lampard’s 4-3-3 system with ease and although the Blues will have to wait until the summer to get their hands on him, this has the hallmarks of a great piece of business from Chelsea following their transfer ban.
