Willian turns down two-year contract extension from Chelsea

Willian has reportedly rejected Chelsea’s latest attempt to tie him down to a new contract, which could be a major boost for Tottenham.

According to UOL, Chelsea offered Willian a two-year contract extension, with the forward turning it down as he wants a three-year deal.

The report claims that Willian has had approaches from other English clubs and is looking to stay in Europe.

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing and could be boosted by this news as they look to snap Willian up at the end of the season. The Brazilian’s contract with Chelsea expires this summer and Spurs could have the chance to sign him on a free transfer.

If Chelsea continue to reject Willian’s demands and refuse to offer him a three-year deal, Spurs could well swoop in and agree a deal with the Brazilian forward, meaning Chelsea could be allowing one of their fiercest rivals to take one of their star players ahead of the 2020/21 season

Willian has four goals and four assists in the Premier League this season, with Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount the only Chelsea players with more combined goals and assists for the clu. This shows how important Willian has been to Chelsea under Frank Lampard and why they should be looking to avoid allowing him to sign for a direct rival on a free transfer
