Ajax resigned to letting Spurs and Chelsea target Onana leave

Dutch side Ajax are reportedly resigned to letting goalkeeper Andre Onana leave this summer and it signifies a huge boost for Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Last month, the shot-stopper was reported to be keen on a summer move to Stamford Bridge and now, as stated on Voetbal International, the Eredivisie club look set to offload him.

Spurs are also keen to strengthen their goalkeeper department and Onana is expected to cost between £40m and £50m.

As reported in the Daily Mail, the keeper has also been pursued by Barcelona but his personal preference is understood to be a move to the Premier League.

The news could come as a boost for both sides because it means the Dutch club may finally be ready to listen to offers for one of their star players.

Onana’s quality is undeniable, proving his worth during last season’s UEFA Champions League campaign, helping the young side to the semi-finals of the competition. This season, the 23-year-old has eight clean sheets to his name in the Eredivisie.

Blues boss Frank Lampard clearly has concerns about current Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, meaning Onana might be an ideal replacement for the Spaniard, who recently lost his starting spot to Willy Caballero.

Chelsea may like they could hold an advantage in this pursuit because they have already dealt with Ajax recently, negotiating a deal to sign winger Hakim Ziyech in the summer.
