Chelsea have reportedly been joined by Leeds in the race to land Metz striker Habib Diallo this summer.
According to Le Foot, Leeds and Chelsea are both interested in signing Diallo from Metz at the end of the season.
The report also claims that he will cost at least €20m (£18m), following his impressive form in Ligue 1 this season for Metz.
Diallo has scored 12 goals in 26 league appearances so far this season, despite playing in a struggling Metz side. This suggests that he could be ready to take the next step in his career and play for a bigger club, whether that be Leeds or Chelsea.
With Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud’s futures far from certain, Diallo could be a shrewd addition to the squad to act as cover and competition for Tammy Abraham. If either Batshuayi or Giroud, or both, leave the club this summer then Diallo could step in and fill their place in the squad.
Diallo could challenge Abraham for his place and provide stern competition in order to push the England international on. This season, Abraham has had very little in terms of pressure on his position, so signing Diallo could help him to train harder and up his own game.
