Chelsea and Man United make progress in bid to sign Sancho

Chelsea have ‘opened a channel’ to Jadon Sancho, as they continue to pursue the Borussia Dortmund star.

That’s according to Mirror, who also state that the Blues are not willing to spend £100 million on the 20-year-old.

Manchester United are considered Chelsea’s biggest rivals currently, having spoken to Sancho’s agent.

The England international could leave Dortmund at the end of the season, with a return to England believed to be his preference.

Signing Sancho could be a major statement for Chelsea, should they manage to pip United to his signature. While the likes of Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are hugely talented young players in their own right, the Dortmund forward is on another level.

Sancho has 14 goals and 15 assists to his name in the Bundesliga this season – 12 and 14 last season, too – whereas Pulisic (five and two) and Hudson-Odoi (one and four) have not enjoyed such influence, albeit with injuries affecting both.

Traditionally, 20-year-old players can often be understandably raw, but the Dortmund man looks ready to star for a top English club.

Dortmund agreeing to lower the price tag could be an obvious stumbling block, however, potentially allowing United to swoop in, but Chelsea must do all they can to snap up the winger.
