Report: Chelsea Learn Price Tag for Michael Olise

Reading midfielder Michael Olise is a target for numerous Premier League clubs including Chelsea, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

The report claimed the teenager, who has represented France at under-18 level, is also being targeted by Liverpool, Leeds, Arsenal, and Wolves.

Amid such intense speculation, Football Insider have revealed the 18-year-old has an £8m release clause in his Reading contract, a deal which expires in the summer of 2022.

Based on his current form, it’s easy to understand why the Blues would be interested in the attacking midfielder.

Olise has played in all nine Championship games for Reading and has scored twice and laid on three assists for his teammates. Those contributions have played a pivotal part in the superb start made by the Royals this season as they sit top of the table, having lost just once.

Whilst obviously talented given his performances at such a tender age in a level as high as the Championship, Frank Lampard isn’t necessarily short on attacking midfielders, even if one comes at a relative snip of a fee in £8m.

Having already added Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech to the talents of Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the summer, Lampard allowed both Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to leave the club on loan.

Therefore, a move for an additional option in the same mould seems unlikely, even if the Blues have a habit of rounding up the best available youngsters and allowing them to grow whilst out on loan.
