Callum Hudson-Odoi Determined To Grasp Every Opportunity

Callum Hudson-Odoi made a scoring return to the Chelsea starting lineup during Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory against side Rennes and the winger has spoken to the club’s official website to give his reaction.

The exciting 20-year-old has had to wait for his opportunity to shine with the additional competition for places at Stamford Bridge following a host of big-name summer arrivals, but the England international did himself no harm with his performance.

Having burst onto the scene in 2018, Hudson-Odoi has endured an injury-ravaged 18 months which has somewhat curtailed his progression.

However, the youngster is now solely focused on helping the team, insisting: ”Every game that you play you want to go out there and give your best. I think that everybody’s playing really well at the moment and we want to keep improving, keep working hard, and keep our momentum going.”

Seemingly aware of the difficulties of holding down a place among such fierce competition, the winger is determined to take his chances when they come along, saying: ”Every opportunity I get I just want to take it, hopefully, keep getting goals, getting assists for the team, working hard for the team. But really I am happy that we got three points and we won the game.’’

The young winger is in direct competition with the man who has arguably made the biggest impression at Stamford Bridge following his summer arrival – Hakim Ziyech.

However, Frank Lampard will be well aware of the need to keep his whole squad happy – especially Hudson-Odoi, who for a long time was the subject of strong interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Having secured qualification from their Champions League group, Hudson-Odoi can perhaps look forward to two more European appearances and the upcoming FA Cup third round, as well as his fleeting Premer League substitute outings.
