Graham Potter took over from former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel on September 8th, 2022, under new American owner Todd Boehly. In his first game in charge of The Blues, they drew 1-1 at home to RB Salzburg in the second group stage match of the Champions League. Since taking over Chelsea, they have had mixed results. The question being asked here is, is Graham Potter’s new job already under threat? Find out more right here.

A closer look at some of Chelsea’s most recent results

Graham Potter got off to a relatively good start after taking over from sacked Tuchel. On October 1st, they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 away before beating AC Milan 3-0 away in the third game of the Champions League group stage (Group E). In their next Premier League outing on October 8th, they beat Wolves 3-0 at home. They then went on to beat AC Milan 2-0 away in the Champions League and then returned for Premier League action to beat Aston Villa 2-0 away. On October 19th, they could only manage a goalless draw away to Brentford, and they ended up drawing 1-1 at home to Manchester United on October 22nd. In their fifth game of the Champions League group stage matches, they beat RB Salzburg 2-1 away before losing 4-1 to Brighton in the Premier League on October 29th. On November 2nd, they beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 away in the final group stage match of the Champions League.

This is where things started getting worse for Chelsea. They lost 1-0 to Arsenal at home on November 6th. They travelled to Manchester City on November 9th and lost 2-0, and then on November 12th, just before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, they lost 1-0 away to Newcastle United. Can a couple of new signings help Chelsea get back to their winning ways when they return to Premier League duties? Only time will tell.

How are Chelsea doing in the Champions League?

Chelsea are doing much better in the Champions League compared to the Premier League. They ended up top of Group E with 13 points after just 6 games. They won 4, drew 1, and lost 1, and they scored 10 goals and let in 4. They finished above second place AC Milan with 10 points, third place RB Salzburg with 6 points, and fourth place Dinamo Zagreb with 4 points.

Can Chelsea win the Champions League even if they can’t win the Premier League?

The best thing to do to find out whether Chelsea can win the Champions League would be to look to the major sports betting sites to compare the odds. Despite riding high in the group stages, the odds are still not looking too good for Chelsea to win the Champions League outright. You will find that they are currently around seventh odds-on favourites to win behind Real Madrid, Napoli, PSG, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and odds-on favourites Manchester City. For example, if you were to bet on Chelsea right now to win the Champions League outright, you would receive odds of around 18/1 in UK fractional odds, which is 19.00 in European decimal odds, and +1800 in American/money line odds. If they can win the Champions League, then Graham Potter’s job, for the time being anyway, should be secure, but it would also help Potter tremendously if Chelsea could get into the top 3 or 4 in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
