Chelsea “will be back in” for RB Leipzig’s “tremendous” £77million World Cup star Josko Gvardiol.

What’s the word?

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who is almost certain that Chelsea will revive their interest in the Croatia international.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth said: “The other player who we were talking about in the summer, who we might be talking about in January and potentially next summer as well if he doesn’t move in January, is Josko Gvardiol from Croatia.

“Heavily linked with Chelsea in the summer, it looked like a done deal at one point, and I’m sure Chelsea will be back in for him. He has been absolutely tremendous for Croatia at such a young age as well.”

“Absolutely tremendous”

“Absolutely tremendous” is exactly what Gvardiol has been this season, despite the consistent links drawing him away from RB Leipzig, and their stuttering start to the new campaign.

Even through a manager switch at club level, 20-year-old Gvardiol has gone about his business in esteemed fashion, registering himself as the Bundesliga side’s string-puller from the back, with his average of 75 accurate passes per 90 and sum of 5.1 accurate long balls per 90 an indicator of his efficiency on the ball.

Off the ball, the starlet is equally as astute with his average of 2.4 clearances per 90 illustrating his identity as a no-nonsense centre-back with a great understanding and reading of the game.

Importantly, though, other than stepping up for Croatia at the World Cup, Gvardiol is the main character in the back line and possesses leadership qualities that make him that bit more desirable.

Having been in for him in the summer, there is no reason as to why Chelsea should not be trying their luck at least once more in January.
