Chelsea hierarchy set to ignore fans’ demand once again

A few days back, a report had come out suggesting that the Chelsea board believed that the project was moving in the right direction. Many fans struggled to wrap their heads around the idea. Over the past four seasons, we have seen the Blues go from perennial contenders to struggling to compete with even decent Premier League sides. When was the last time they managed to get the better of Arsenal or Manchester City in a meaningful game? When was the last time they made a deep run in the Champions League?

Speaking of the Champions League, Chelsea’s exit from this season’s competition was a reminder of how much of a gap exists between this team and Europe’s best.

PSG are not even having a great season. They have a narrow lead atop the Ligue 1 table. And they had needed play-offs to get into the last 16 of the Champions League. That did not stop them from handing Chelsea a 8-2 defeat on aggregate to knock them out of the competition.

A lot of fingers have been pointed at Liam Rosenior in the aftermath. And it is very likely that he is not good enough for the job. That being said, as long as this BlueCo transfer model is in place, there is little hope that any manager can succeed at Stamford Bridge. Yet, there seems to be no plan to change the structure.

BlueCo reportedly ready to stick with failing Chelsea model

For years, the fans have been calling for the club to sign experienced and proven players instead of putting all their eggs in the potential basket. That strategy has not worked so far. And it is not just the supporters who want change. Previous managers have spoken about it as well and overlooked. Rosenior’s name might soon be added to that list.

According to Sports Boom, Chelsea’s hierarchy are set to ignore Rosenior’s plea for some experienced heads to bolster his squad next season. Instead, they prefer to press ahead with their experiment in potential rather than proven talent.

Will Rosenior even be the manager next season?

If you ask me, appointing Rosenior was the first clue that Chelsea were not looking to change direction. Why else would they bring in an unproven manager from within their system instead of going for a proven winner?

Now, lately, there have been some rumours that Rosenior could be headed for the sack. I could be very wrong here, but to me, it feels like the hierarchy will give him at least one summer window. Sacking him now would be an admission that they got it badly wrong. Again.

Then again, we have seen them change managers due to disagreements on more than one occasion in the past. Perhaps, that could happen with Rosenior as well with the Englishman already under immense pressure.
