In recent times, we have seen plenty of players make the move from Chelsea to AC Milan. Marc Guehi and Christian Pulisic have been massive success stories. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has found himself a role in the middle of the park as well. Christopher Nkunku has failed to make the grade though.
Nkunku struggled for both form and fitness while at Chelsea. Signed to be one of the faces of the team, the Frenchman did not even start consistently. He ended up joining AC Milan last summer. But his time in Italy has not been much better.
Nkunku has scored just six times for AC Milan so far this season. And they might already be looking for reinforcements up top.
The Italian giants are being linked with quite a few forwards. One of them is on the books at Chelsea, although his long-term future remains unclear.
Chelsea striker linked with summer move to AC Milan
Chelsea could certainly do with a player like Nicolas Jackson right now. The Senegalese striker never got the credit that he deserved. But it is abundantly clear that he was a much better option than Liam Delap.
Jackson is currently out on loan at Bayern Munich. Unsurprisingly, he has struggled for game time ahead of Harry Kane. The striker is expected to return to Chelsea in the summer. But that might not be for long.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Jackson will return to Chelsea to move on to other more desirable destinations. AC Milan could negotiate a loan deal with a significant option to buy.
Nicolas Jackson would solve a lot of Chelsea’s problems
Jackson’s finishing might let him down at times, but he is brilliant in several other phases of the game. He can carry the ball up the pitch, link up with his teammates, and make those around him better. Cole Palmer played at his best with the Senegalese striker. There have even been some reports which suggest the Englishman misses playing with him.
Someone like Jackson would add a lot to this Chelsea side. If there is one striker that needs to leave this summer, it is Delap, who does not seem to be a good fit for a big club, who will play mostly against low blocks.
Then again, it might come down to what Jackson wants. He pushed through the loan move to Bayern Munich after Chelsea had tried to scrap it late on. Would he want to continue on at Stamford Bridge? Or does he see his future elsewhere? With a new manager in place, perhaps there is room for a fresh start.
