This is an interesting time at Chelsea. The club still have much to play for this season. They will be aiming for a top-five finish in the Premier League to secure Champions League qualification. Without it, they could be in real trouble. They face Manchester City next. There is also the FA Cup up for grabs. The Blues will face Leeds United in the semi-final at Wembley.
Multiple players are being linked with moves away from Chelsea right now. Names like Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella, and more. Publicly, the situation has calmed down a bit. One has to wonder how things are behind the scenes though.
A few have already openly talked about how they did not agree with the decision to sack Enzo Maresca in the middle of the season. The Italian had won two trophies and got the club Champions League football in his debut campaign with the Blues. Even this time, a one-sided 3-0 win over FC Barcelona had shown what he was capable of getting out of this young squad.
It is very evident that Maresca was respected by the squad. Liam Rosenior seems like a very different character when compared to the Italian. And many fans feel that he does not have the resume to be the Chelsea manager. But what do the players think of him in the dressing room?
What do Chelsea players think about Liam Rosenior?
It looks like there is respect for the Englishman’s man-management skills. As reported by The Athletic, according to sources close to the dressing room, there is an appreciation from some players of the manner in which Rosenior talks to squad members. He is seen as a ‘nice guy’.
A source close to a senior player claimed that Rosenior is yet to carry quite the same aura that the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Maresca had in the dressing room. Chelsea sources though suggest that he has made a good impression on the players in the dressing room and in training. He is said to have brought a nice vibe to the place.
Does Liam Rosenior have a long-term future at Stamford Bridge?
Of course, you do not need to be in the dressing room to notice some of these things. It is very clear from how Rosenior handles himself. He is a fantastic speaker, which is what got a lot of fans on his side early on.
That being said, a Chelsea manager is always going to be measured by success and results at the end of the day. We had heard a lot of these same things about Graham Potter as well, when things had started to go wrong for him. It is easy to forget, but just like Rosenior, he had also made a bright start.
It is now up to Rosenior to make sure that he has a long-term future at Chelsea. If he can guide the club to Champions League qualification, there is no doubt in my mind that he will stay in charge. But if he fails to do that, BlueCo might need to consider a change of plans and bring in a proven winner. Names like Xabi Alonso and Cesc Fabregas have done the rounds lately.
