After the loss to Brighton, in the eyes of most fans, it is inevitable that Liam Rosenior will be sacked. When? That is the question. But things cannot go on like this, that is for certain. Chelsea are in their worst run of form since 1912. Just let that sink in. All the things that have happened in the 114 years in between. The league triumphs. The European glory. The relegations.
Everybody had their doubts about Rosenior when he arrived. He simply did not have the resume for the job. But nobody could have predicted how bad it would go for him at Chelsea. The Graham Potter era pales in comparison to what has unfolded over these past few months.
It is very clear that Chelsea won’t qualify for the Champions League. It is quite likely that they won’t make any European competition. Probably, they won’t even finish in the top half of the table.
It remains to be seen if BlueCo sack Rosenior or decide to continue with him in charge. Now, there is an update from the inside.
Do Chelsea have a replacement in mind for Rosenior?
Miguel Delaney wrote in the Independent regarding the Rosenior situation at Chelsea:
The word from inside is that they don’t have any prospective replacement lined up.
Many fans feel it would be best to bring in an interim manager before the Leeds United game and hope for the best. Perhaps someone like Calum McFarlane. And to be honest, things literally can’t get any worse.
In the long run, Rosenior is not the only change that the club need to make. Questions need to be asked about the entire structure in place. And the transfer strategy needs to be scrapped.
There need to be a lot of changes at Stamford Bridge
The sporting directors have overseen the club spend north of a billion pounds on players and here we are. They have not been able to put together a team that scores one goal in five league games. It is an absolute failure.
When are questions gonna be asked about them? When are there gonna be consequences for those failures? You can’t just change the manager every time and sweep the rest of the issues under the carpet.
The one time Chelsea did have a winning manager in Enzo Maresca, they let him go due to reported disagreements behind the scenes. It cannot continue on like this. The last four years have been wasted. And the real worry is that the damage has been done already, and cannot be reversed.
