Chelsea have sacked Liam Rosenior. But that might just be the first thing on a long to-do list for BlueCo. The ownership appears to be willing to make some changes to their structure, having seen the club fail for the last four years. Of course, the fans are quite clear about what they want to see.
Firstly, the fans are hoping to see a proven winning manager be appointed as the next Chelsea boss. Of course, the names that have been linked with the job since Rosenior’s sacking won’t fill them with confidence.
Secondly, they would like to see the transfer model scrapped and for experienced and proven players to be signed. There have been suggestions that BlueCo might be willing to ‘tweak’ their policy without completely doing away with it. Let’s see what kind of targets they have, and the ones they can attract without Champions League football on offer.
One area which is in need of immediate strengthening is striker. Liam Delap has flopped since his summer move from Ipswich Town. Joao Pedro has been hot and cold. He looks brilliant for a period of time but then his form drops completely soon afterwards. That has already happened a few times since joining Chelsea. What the Blues need is a consistent goalscorer. And another Brazilian international appears to be on their radar in this respect.
Chelsea eyeing Brazilian international striker with 21 goals in the Premier League this season
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Brentford striker Igor Thiago. Newcastle United and Manchester City have also been touted to hold an interest in the Brazilian international.
Thiago has scored 21 goals this season, just behind Erling Haaland in the Premier League golden boot race. Across all competitions, the 24-year-old Brazilian has 24 goals to his name.
So, it is easy to see why someone like Thiago would be on the radar of Chelsea. But can they sign him this summer?
Is Igor Thiago the right fit?
Some strikers are natural goalscorers. Thiago seems to fit that bill. This is not a one-off season in which he has scored goals on a consistent basis.
At Ludogorets, he scored 20 times in the 22/23 campaign. In the 24/25 season, he had 29 goals for Club Brugge. Even for Brazil, he has scored once in just two appearances for the national team.
Thus, Thiago looks like someone who knows his way to the back of the net. And Chelsea could do with an instinctive goalscorer like him. His Premier League experience makes him an even more attractive target.
