It would be safe to say that Chelsea could undergo a lot of changes in the summer transfer window. Over the past four years, it has become quite clear that their squad composition is not good enough to compete with the elite teams in England and in Europe. Changes are needed. Fresh faces need to be brought in.
Considering the financial reality of Chelsea at the moment, with the club posting losses north of £260 million for the 24/25 season, it also means that some players would need to head for the exit door first. A few of those departures won’t have a real effect. Others might.
One player many Chelsea fans want to see playing for the club next season is Nicolas Jackson. He spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich and the Bavarian giants are not ready to take up the option to sign him permanently.
Chelsea have missed someone like Jackson though. Liam Delap has struggled and it has also become clear that someone like the Senegalese striker used to make those around him better, even if his finishing let him down at times.
Juventus and AC Milan said to be monitoring Nicolas Jackson
Jackson is one of the players for whom Chelsea could still get a decent transfer fee. On the other hand, the striker might not see his future at the club, having pushed through the loan move to Bayern Munich in the summer.
So, his future at the club remains up in the air. On the other hand, according to Sky reporter, Florian Plettenberg, Juventus are monitoring Jackson and can imagine a loan move. AC Milan are keeping an eye on the situation as well.
It is very clear that there is not going to be a lack of interest in Jackson, if he leaves Chelsea again in the summer. But a loan move won’t really solve the club’s issues.
Should Chelsea keep Jackson or let him go?
One can imagine someone like Jackson going to the Serie A and proving to be a grand success. The slower nature of the league might suit him.
That being said, he did not really struggle in the Premier League either. Yes, his finishing was questionable but there were several other aspects of the game where he excelled. Also, let’s not forget, he spent the season working with Harry Kane. That might have improved his skillset further, including his abilities in front of goal.
A large section of Chelsea fans want the club to keep Jackson. That being said, it remains to be seen if the Blues are looking to sign another world-class forward. If so, then that makes an exit more likely.
