David Ornstein confirms Eddie Howe news that will impact Chelsea

Share

Who will be the next manager of Chelsea? All the fans are trying to figure out the answer to that question. It has been a problem for the Blues for years now. The club have never had a settled head coach during the BlueCo era. To be fair, that was the case under the previous ownership as well. But there was a lot more success back then to justify the constant changes.

Just when it had looked like BlueCo had found their man with Enzo Maresca, he chose to walk away from the job. That raises questions over whether anybody can work successfully under this model for any considerable length of time. Let’s not forget, the Italian had won the Club World Cup and secured Champions League football for Chelsea just six months before his decision to quit.

Quite a few managers have been linked with the Chelsea job recently. Names like Xabi Alonso and Cesc Fabregas have captured the imagination of some fans. Most of the other rumoured targets have not.

Eddie Howe is one who falls in the latter category. Now, there is an update on the future of the Newcastle United boss. Could he be on his way to Stamford Bridge?

David Ornstein confirms Eddie Howe news that will impact Chelsea

According to David Ornstein, one of the most reliable journalists in football today, Howe is set to remain the Newcastle United boss. As things stand, and barring an unexpected turn of events, he will lead the Magpies into the 26/27 season.

Howe retains the Newcastle United ownership’s support and is keen to continue. That being said, there is an acknowledgement that this season cannot be repeated.

Chelsea’s hopes of landing Howe are over for now

So, it looks like Chelsea do not have a chance of landing Howe, at least in the immediate future. To be honest, the reaction to the links were a bit harsh on the manager.

Howe has done a very good job as Newcastle United manager. He brought silverware back to the club after decades. And has gotten them into the Champions League.

But at the same time, it feels like Chelsea should be looking for someone different. Someone whose appointment will immediately raise the mood around the place and make fans look forward towards the next campaign. Another experimental selection, that might or might not work, is not the need of the hour at Stamford Bridge after four years of disappointment.
