What Joao Pedro thinks about leaving Chelsea for Barcelona

Share

There has not been much to be positive about when it comes to Chelsea. But amid all this, one player who has stood out even amid another disappointing campaign is Joao Pedro. Signed in the summer from Brighton & Hove Albion, many eyebrows were raised at the idea of bringing in someone with just 10 goals in the previous campaign.

But Pedro is starting to prove himself as the best striker that Chelsea have had since Diego Costa left all those years ago. He has scored 23 goals and provided nine assists in 51 games so far for the club.

It is not just about the goals and assists when it comes to Pedro though. Overall, he is an excellent football as well. The Brazilian is someone who is mobile, can press, can dribble, can interlink play and can find a teammate.

He is pretty much everything you can ask for in a modern striker. And on paper, he looks absolutely perfect FC Barcelona, who are believed to have taken note of the Brazilian’s situation and are being linked with him.

Would Joao Pedro like to join Barcelona?

Barcelona have a long history of having top Brazilian players. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar, Rivaldo and several other legends have played for the club.

It is very likely that Chelsea would not be open to the idea of letting Pedro leave after just one season at the club. But the issue is, they look set to miss out on Champions League football again, and everything that comes with it.

According to SPORT, Chelsea could be forced to negotiate if they don’t enter the Champions League, and the player would have already given signs that he would see with very good eyes to wear the Barcelona jersey.

So, let’s see what the future holds for Pedro. One would imagine that he will be a Chelsea player come next season as well. But you never know in football.

Chelsea cannot afford to let Pedro go

When it comes to Chelsea, they simply cannot afford to let Pedro go. So much has gone wrong under BlueCo. He is one of the rare signings that has worked out well.

Pedro is the kind of player that Chelsea should be building around. Of course, there have been rumours linking the club with other striker as well.

Incidentally, one of them is Julian Alvarez. He is believed to be Barcelona’s top target for the summer as too, even ahead of Pedro.
