Dusan Vlahovic Free-Agent Route Gives Chelsea Striker Test

Chelsea have been handed a renewed opening to test the Dusan Vlahovic market as the Juventus striker moves towards the final days of his contract.

Football London reports that the Blues could move to satisfy Xabi Alonso’s demand for another senior centre-forward by targeting the Serbia international once his Juventus exit path becomes clear.

Vlahovic is expected to leave Juventus as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June, giving Chelsea a potential route without a transfer fee.

Alonso Gets Clear Striker Market Test

Vlahovic has been a recurring name around Chelsea for weeks, with Read Chelsea previously covering the club’s position in the race to sign the striker.

The fresh twist is timing. A free-agent route would remove a major transfer-fee obstacle, even if wages and signing-on costs still require firm control.

That distinction matters for Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson remains under scrutiny after a difficult World Cup spell with Senegal, while Alonso is expected to demand a sharper penalty-box reference point before his first Premier League campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Read Chelsea has already assessed why Jackson’s World Cup audit adds pressure to Chelsea’s striker planning, and Vlahovic would clearly shift that debate.

He would not be a low-risk move. His Juventus years have carried flashes of elite finishing alongside questions over rhythm, physical durability and consistency in the biggest games.

But the profile is obvious: a left-footed penalty-box striker with the frame to occupy centre-backs and the reputation to alter Chelsea’s attacking hierarchy.

If Chelsea pursue the opportunity, the deal will quickly become a wage-structure question as much as a football one.

On a free transfer, Vlahovic is tempting. On inflated personal terms, the Blues must decide whether Alonso’s first striker call is worth bending the model.
