Chelsea have reportedly contacted several experienced English goalkeepers as they search for a new third-choice option this summer.
The Blues have made calls to a number of veteran stoppers who are out of contract, although no agreement has yet been reached.
Standard Sport reporter Jack Rosser says Chelsea are looking for an experienced goalkeeper who can add depth and leadership to Xabi Alonso’s squad.
The proposed signing is not expected to arrive as an immediate challenger for the starting position. Instead, Chelsea want a dependable senior figure who can support the club’s younger goalkeepers and provide emergency cover.
Rosser’s transfer update says discussions have taken place with several available players, but Chelsea have not selected a preferred target.

Robert Sánchez and Filip Jørgensen shared first-team duties last season, while Chelsea also have several highly rated younger goalkeepers on their books.
The club’s official squad page currently lists Sánchez, Jørgensen, Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Gabriel Slonina among the senior goalkeeping group.
Mike Penders also remains a significant part of Chelsea’s long-term plans following his loan spell at Strasbourg and involvement with Belgium at the World Cup.
Adding another young goalkeeper would create further congestion. A veteran willing to accept a supporting role could provide a better balance for Alonso.
Chelsea’s third-choice goalkeeper would be expected to train regularly with the first team, help set standards and remain ready if injuries or suspensions affect the leading options.
The move could also allow Sharman-Lowe, Slonina or another developing goalkeeper to leave on loan rather than spending the season without regular football.
No deal appears close at present. Chelsea are assessing the available free-agent market before committing to a player.
The search nevertheless shows Alonso wants greater experience around a goalkeeping department which currently contains several players still developing at senior level.
