Chelsea are reportedly preparing an ambitious £85m offer for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as Xabi Alonso looks to reshape his attacking options.
The Blues are considering an opening bid worth €100m for the Ivory Coast international, although Leipzig are said to value him at more than €120m, around £102m.
The Chelsea Chronicle reports that Chelsea could offer Diomande a five-year contract before allowing him to spend another season on loan in Germany. Leipzig would reportedly only consider a summer sale if the winger immediately returned to the club.
No official offer has been confirmed by either club. Leipzig’s current preference is to retain Diomande and improve his contract, which runs until June 2030.
Chelsea could make major winger investment
Diomande enjoyed an outstanding first Bundesliga season after joining Leipzig from Leganes in 2025.
The 19-year-old scored 12 league goals and provided eight assists. His direct running, close control and ability to operate from either flank have attracted interest from several leading European clubs.
Chelsea’s pursuit could depend on departures from Alonso’s squad. Alejandro Garnacho’s future remains uncertain following an inconsistent first season at Stamford Bridge.
As Read Chelsea reported while examining Alonso’s early transfer decisions, the club are open to selling Garnacho as part of their summer restructuring.
Chelsea already have Pedro Neto, Estevao, Jamie Gittens and Geovany Quenda competing for wide roles. An £85m investment would place Diomande near the centre of Alonso’s long-term project.
The proposed loan arrangement would allow Diomande to continue playing regularly in the Bundesliga. However, Chelsea would also be committing a huge fee without receiving an immediate first-team option.
Leipzig’s valuation remains the central obstacle, with Chelsea yet to submit a confirmed proposal.
