Chelsea midfielder Ollie Harrison has joined AFC Wimbledon on loan for the entire 2026/27 season. The Ollie Harrison loan to Wimbledon will provide the academy prospect with his first regular experience of senior football.
Chelsea confirmed the season-long agreement on Friday afternoon.
Harrison will spend the campaign working under Johnnie Jackson as Wimbledon prepare for another season in League One. There is no suggestion that the agreement includes an option to buy.
The midfielder recently signed a new Chelsea contract running until at least 2029. ReadChelsea previously examined how Harrison’s new deal rewarded his progress through the academy.
Ollie Harrison loan to Wimbledon rewards academy progress
Harrison joined Chelsea’s academy as an Under-16 and has progressed steadily through the age groups.
He became an important member of Harry Hudson’s Under-21 side last season as Chelsea won the Premier League 2 title. Harrison also represented the club in the UEFA Youth League, helping the Under-19s complete the league stage without defeat.
Chelsea have already exposed Harrison to the senior matchday environment. He has previously been named among the substitutes in Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup fixtures without making his competitive debut.
A full League One campaign should now test his ability against experienced midfielders. Wimbledon can offer the physical demands and regular pressure that academy football cannot consistently recreate.
The move also continues Chelsea’s approach of securing their leading academy players before arranging senior loans. Max Merrick, Harrison Murray-Campbell and Jesse Derry have also left temporarily this summer.
Harrison remains protected by his long-term Chelsea contract, while Wimbledon gain a technically capable midfielder with title-winning academy experience.
His performances at the Cherry Red Records Stadium will help Chelsea decide whether he can eventually challenge for a place in Xabi Alonso’s first-team squad.
