Chelsea sign Serie A Midfielder of the Year until 2030

Chelsea have completed the permanent signing of Italy international Giulia Dragoni from Barcelona.

The transfer sees the highly rated 19-year-old sign a four-year contract that will keep her at Stamford Bridge until 2030.

Dragoni becomes the latest addition to Sonia Bompastor’s squad during a busy summer of recruitment.

“I still can’t believe I have signed for Chelsea,” Dragoni told the club’s official website.

“When I was a child, not even in my biggest dreams did I think I would sign for Chelsea. It’s unbelievable. I’m really excited.”

Dragoni revealed that discussions with Bompastor helped convince her to move to London. She described Chelsea as one of the world’s best clubs and praised the project presented by the head coach.

Giulia Dragoni Chelsea transfer adds midfield quality

Dragoni can receive possession in tight spaces, carry the ball through midfield and contribute in several attacking positions.

ReadChelsea first reported that Chelsea were set to sign Dragoni after her successful two-year loan spell with Roma.

She scored seven goals and registered four assists last season as Roma retained their league title. Her performances earned her the Serie A Midfielder of the Year award.

Dragoni previously developed at Inter Milan before joining Barcelona in January 2023. She later became part of the Barcelona squad that won four trophies during the 2023/24 campaign.

Despite her age, Dragoni already has significant international experience. She made her senior Italy debut at 16 and has earned 25 caps, including three starts at the 2023 World Cup.

The Giulia Dragoni Chelsea transfer gives Bompastor another technically gifted midfielder capable of developing into an important long-term player.
