Filip Jorgensen is closing in on a season-long loan move to Strasbourg after Chelsea made progress ieparture.
The 24-year-old left Chelsea’s pre-season tour after the opening game in Australia as talks over his future accelerated.
A move initially appeared to have stalled. ReadChelsea reported earlier on Tuesday that negotiations with Strasbourg had become difficult, despite an agreement previously looking close.
However, Jorgensen has now given the green light to spending the 2026/27 campaign with Chelsea’s BlueCo sister club.
BBC Sport reports that Jorgensen is set to complete a season-long loan to Strasbourg, providing the Denmark international with an opportunity to play regularly in Ligue 1.
Filip Jorgensen loan clears Chelsea goalkeeper picture
Jorgensen joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2024 but has struggled to establish himself ahead of Robert Sanchez.
He made 11 Premier League appearances last season and had already indicated that he was open to leaving Stamford Bridge in search of more regular football.
Strasbourg now offer him that opportunity under new head coach Hugo Oliveira.
The French club were looking for another goalkeeper after Mike Penders returned to Chelsea following an impressive loan spell last season.
Penders has since joined Xabi Alonso’s squad in Hong Kong and is expected to compete with Sanchez for opportunities during the new campaign.
Jorgensen’s departure would therefore simplify Alonso’s options while allowing the Dane to play consistently at a high level.
Chelsea also have Gabriel Slonina, Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Ted Curd among their goalkeeping options, although further movement remains possible before the transfer window closes.
For Jorgensen, a successful year in France could provide the regular minutes he has struggled to find at Stamford Bridge.
After uncertainty surrounding negotiations earlier this week, his Strasbourg move now appears close to being completed.
