Chelsea make £75m Malo Gusto decision after PSG transfer interest

Chelsea are reportedly not looking to sell Malo Gusto this summer despite continued transfer speculation surrounding the France international.

Gusto’s future has been questioned throughout the window following interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, with Chelsea placing a substantial valuation on the right-back.

However, the Blues’ latest position appears clear.

Sky Sports reports that Chelsea are not trying to sell Gusto and value the 23-year-old at around £75million.

Chelsea make Malo Gusto transfer stance clear

Chelsea’s position comes despite interest in Gusto during a summer in which Xabi Alonso has reshaped his defensive options.

ReadChelsea reported last week that PSG had made contact regarding a potential move for the France defender, while Manchester City have also monitored his situation.

Chelsea have since strengthened the right side of Alonso’s squad with the addition of Marco Palestra, while captain Reece James remains another option in the position.

Gusto’s £75m valuation nevertheless indicates Chelsea would need an exceptional proposal before reconsidering their current stance.

The former Lyon defender is still only 23 and has established himself as a France international, giving Chelsea little reason to sanction a cut-price departure.

Sky Sports also reports that Alonso wants to reduce the number of centre-backs in his squad, with Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi among those more likely to leave. Gusto, however, does not currently appear to be one of the players Chelsea are actively trying to move on.

Unless PSG, City or another interested club are prepared to test Chelsea’s £75m valuation, Gusto now looks increasingly likely to remain part of Alonso’s plans.
