Our Chelsea Women predicted XI vs West Ham includes recalls for Lauren James and Aggie Beever-Jones as Sonia Bompastor balances attacking freshness with defensive continuity.
Chelsea visit Dagenham on Sunday following Wednesday’s goalless draw at Lyon. This is our selection forecast, with fitness decisions still outstanding.
Chelsea Women predicted XI vs West Ham
Predicted formation: 4-2-3-1
Hampton; Carpenter, Bronze, Buchanan, Buurman; Walsh, Potter; James, Kaptein, Thompson; Beever-Jones.
James and Beever-Jones replace Sjoeke Nüsken and Melvine Malard from the side that started against Lyon.
Our preference is to restore James’ creativity and give Beever-Jones the central attacking role. Malard would provide an alternative from the bench.
Keeping Keira Walsh alongside Lexi Potter would preserve midfield continuity while changing the players ahead of them.
Hampton and McCabe fitness could change the selection
Hampton’s inclusion is conditional. In her post-Lyon team-news update, Bompastor said she needed to check on the goalkeeper after a late collision, despite Hampton completing the match.
Katie McCabe missed that game through illness. Without confirmation of her recovery, we retain Veerle Buurman rather than assume McCabe returns.
Naomi Girma could miss several weeks following a training knock. Erin Cuthbert and Manaka Matsukubo are back in full training and could feature, but their involvement remains unconfirmed.
That makes continuity the stronger starting point for this prediction, with any returning midfielders potentially offering options from the bench.
Kick-off is 2pm BST on Sunday 4 October. Our West Ham vs Chelsea Women viewing guide covers the television and streaming details.
