- Barco: Sets up Giuliano Simeone after coming off the bench.
- Martinez: Receives an ovation when replaced.
- Argentina: Complete a 7-0 friendly victory over Burkina Faso.
Chelsea midfielder Valentin Barco supplied the final goal of Argentina’s 7-0 victory over Burkina Faso, while club team-mate Emiliano Martinez received an ovation at the Monumental.
Barco’s cross found Giuliano Simeone, who headed home in stoppage time to complete the scoring in Buenos Aires.
Valentin Barco delivers from Argentina’s bench
The 22-year-old replaced Alexis Mac Allister during the second half, with Argentina already six goals ahead.
He later shot wide before delivering the assist, as recorded in TyC Sports’ match coverage.
Assessing his contribution for TyC Sports, journalist Gastón Recondo wrote, translated from Spanish:
“He put the ball on Simeone’s head for 7-0.”
Barco, who joined Chelsea from Strasbourg this summer, finished his substitute appearance with a direct contribution to the scoreline.
Emi Martinez applauded after quiet evening
Martinez started in goal and helped Argentina maintain their clean sheet before Geronimo Rulli replaced him.
TyC’s assessment described a particularly quiet outing for the Chelsea goalkeeper and noted the ovation as he departed.
Argentina still have a friendly against Benin to complete their international programme.
Both players feature in our Chelsea international break tracker, with the Blues returning to Premier League action against Bournemouth on 10 October.
