The twenty year old Croatian midfielder has spent the season on loan in La Liga, playing for Elche. However this evening, Mario Pasalic has confirmed he will return to Chelsea in may and is likely to sign a new contract with the Premier League Champions.
A number have reports have emerged over the last few days and Pasalic has confirmed his intentions. According to the Express, Pasalic has quoted: “Given the intensity of the communications with Chelsea, I’m optimistic that I’ll go to London in late May to sign a new deal with them.” Pasalic revealed this week he has kept him in constant communication with Chelsea’s sporting director, Michael Emenalo. The pair have discussed his progression as the club have been continuously monitoring the midfielder.
Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen on having Pasalic at Stamford Bridge next season, with the midfielder likely to spend pre-season with Chelsea before they decide on his next step. During his time in La Liga, he has impressed despite scoring three goals and has reportedly attracted interest from Italian side, Lazio.
