Chelsea are in pole position to sign the seventeen year old after they invited his father to London to hold talks with the club. Roma have also been chasing Diaz, who currently plays for Cerro Porteno, in Paraguay. The Italian side were reportedly keen to tie up a deal as they see him as one for the future.
Chelsea have moved swiftly to try and seal a deal for Diaz who has represented Paraguay at Under 17 level. Several clubs as well as Roma, which include Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Manchester United all believed to be interested.
