Filippo Inzaghi has announced that his intentions for next summer start by keeping Marco van Ginkel at the San Siro for next season.
The Dutch international switched to Italy last summer on loan after failing to fit in with Mourinho’s plans for the season.
During his time in Milan, van Ginkel has had injury after injury. Despite this, he has still managed 15 Serie A appearances and chalking one goal on the board, when he struck home in the 2-1 win over Roma at the start of May.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has stated he feels that van Ginkel does have a future at Stamford Bridge, despite the 22-year-old being constantly struck with injuries. During his first season in West London, he only managed to make two appearances for the first team, as he picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
But, with Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic now running the show in the Chelsea midfield, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek also providing Mourinho with another fresh option, the Chelsea boss could allowed van Ginkel to stay at the San Siro for another season.
Milan boss Inzaghi hopes that the Dutch midfielder remains in the team this summer: “Unfortunately he is not our player, but he has grown a lot. He has played seven or eight games in a row and we are starting to see a great player.
“He does really well in training. Chelsea have great midfielders and he is in need of playing. My will would be if possible to keep him because he can give us a big hand.”
