Mourinho: I can help Falcao to Reach His Level Again

With the departure of Didier Drogba confirmed and the apparent availability of the services of Radamel Falcao, José Mourinho has now added fuel to the fire of the transfer window in a recent interview.

José Mourinho would have been well aware that a question concerning rumours of Chelsea’s interest in Colombian striker, Radamel Falcao, was inevitable. Yet in an exclusive interview with DirecTV Sports, Mourinho was happy to speak of the potential arrival of El Tigre by dropping the biggest hint yet that the 29-year-old may well don the blue of Chelsea.

Falcao suffered a tortuous first season in England while on loan with Manchester United leaving Louis van Gaal and the board to pass up the opportunity of signing the once revered forward for a fee mooted to be around the £40 million mark. Contrastingly Mourinho swiftly defended Falcao’s record of four goals in 26 Premier League games, acknowledging the severity of the striker’s knee injury:

“It really hurts me that people in England believe that Falcao is the guy they saw at Manchester United.”

However the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ went a step further, suggesting that he would relish the opportunity to work with the Colombian international in an attempt to bring back the Falcao that once recorded 52 goals in 68 appearances for Atlético:

“He’s a player I know, one that I’ve followed since Atlético Madrid and if I can help Falcao arrive at his level I will do it.”
