As per the report Adam Shergold of the Daily Mail, Chelsea have offered £11 million a year to use Wembley Stadium as their temporary home ground while Stamford Bridge undergoes renovation work.
Tottenham Hotspur are also in contention to use Wembley but they are offering £8 million a year- Spurs need a temporary stadium from 2017 while their new stadium is being built.
But Gary Jacobs of The Times states that it’s Chelsea who have stolen a march with a superior bid.
Chelsea want to redevelop Stamford Bridge into a 60,000 capacity venue but the plans are still in its early stages, with planning permission not expected until the summer of next year.
If the plans get permitted, the Blues would have to start playing in a temporary stadium from the 2017/18 season onwards for the following the three seasons.
They have also approached the Rugby Football Union regarding the use of Twickenham stadium.
