Preseason squad announced

Chelsea announced its preseason squad on Wednesday morning after arriving in Montreal – the team’s headquarters for its United States preseason tour.

Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Asmir Begovic and Jamal Blackman.

Defenders: Cesar Azpilicueta, Branislav Ivanovic, Ola Aina, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Jake Clarke-Salter.

Midfielders: Nemanja Matic, John Mikel Obi, Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ramires, Cesc Fabregas, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Bertrand Traore and Victor Moses.

Forwards: Loic Remy, Diego Costa and Dominic Solanke.

The internationals who played in this summer’s Copa America – Willian, Cuadrado, Filipe Luis and Falcao – will join the squad mid-way through the tour.

This morning, Jose Mourinho & co. will lead the first training session with a second session to come later in the day.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini will serve as a club ambassador on the tour.

In other news: though new signing Kenedy was not listed on the official squad for the tour, he was caught hanging out with Oscar, his dad Diego Costa and Ramires.

The team will begin its preseason tour in the International Champions Cup (ICC) against New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena (Harrison, New Jersey) on Wednesday, 22 July, 8 p.m. local time (Thursday, 23 July, 1 a.m. BST) followed by a match at Bank of America Stadium (Charlotte, North Carolina) against the team that eliminated them from the 2014/15 Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain, on Saturday, 25 July, 6 p.m. local time (11 p.m. BST).

Chelsea’s final ICC match in the U.S. will be against Champions League winner, Barcelona, at FedEx Field (Washington D.C.) on Tuesday, 28 July, 8 p.m. local time (Wednesday, 29 July, 1 a.m. BST). The Blues will return home to Stamford Bridge to host its final ICC match against Fiorentina on Wednesday, 5 August, 8 p.m. BST. Sandwiched in between the Barcelona and Fiorentina games will be Chelsea’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 5 August, 3 p.m. BST.
