Cesc Fàbregas has become the latest high-profile player to leap to the defence of Mourinho according to the Telegraph, with Chelsea’s shambolic defence of their Premier League title showing no end after a 3-1 defeat at home to Southampton.
Following Saturday’s defeat, Mourinho received the dreaded vote of confidence in a public statement from Chelsea. Such a statement signals the first time in the Roman Abramovich era that Chelsea have ever disseminated any information regarding the job security of a manager.

Fàbregas can win his 100th cap for Spain during the international break to add to a long list of achievements within the game. In an interview with Radio Marca to signify this coming career highlight, the ex-Arsenal and Barcelona man was keen to stress the value of Mourinho at Chelsea.
He is the best coach in the history of the club and the best we can have.
Fàbregas has also spoken of his loyalty towards the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ and vows to stand by his manager, in what looks to be the darkest moment of the Portugues’ illustrious career.
Personally, he (Mourinho) helped me in a very complicated moment of my career and he gives me confidence. I will do whatever he asks. In face-to-face situations he helps me a lot and I respect him for that.

Such a public backing from Fàbregas is an encouraging sign from Chelsea’s dressing room and quashes rumours of potential player discontent with Mourinho. Indeed Kurt Zouma, who is also away on international, but with Les Blues, has added to Mourinho’s defence.
He’s incredibly intelligent, he knows everything. I’ve never seen him get an opposing team wrong. I don’t know how he does it. Every goal we concede, he’ll have shown it to us before on video. Then he’ll he say to us ‘I warned you, lads’. He leaves nothing to chance, he’s really the best. But sometimes in football there are times when everything goes wrong.
