Jose Mourinho has once more been punished by the Football Association for comments he made in a post-match interview, this time against Southampton.
A statement on the FA’s website confirms that it was the Portuguese’s comments in the post-match interview on Saturday 3rd October that he is being charged for – so what is his punishment to be?
Chelsea’s boss will have to pay a £50,000 fine and has received a suspended one-match stadium ban; meaning that it will only come into play if he breaches the same rule (FA Rule E3) again before the 13th of October next year – which if we’re honest, he probably will.
The financial sum will be of little annoyance to Mourinho compared to having a stadium ban over his head – he won’t want to make a slip in the media before a big game and have to miss it!
His comments are felt by the FA to have “constituted improper conduct” and/or “implied bias” of the referees of the Chelsea-Southampton game.
One incident which Mourinho was vocal about after that game was a penalty which he felt should have been given in Chelsea’s favour, but was not. Southampton went on to win the match.
