Enzo Fernandez’s two-game ban has been heavily discussed over the past week. The Argentine openly admitted that Madrid was a city he would like to live in someday amid rumours linking him with a move to the Bernabeu. That situation seems to have settled down since then. The midfielder is said to have apologised. But despite that, he was left out of the game against Manchester City, which the Blues ended up losing 3-0.
Was that a mistake on the part of Liam Rosenior? Most probably. With Champions League qualification up for grabs, such problems should have been solved behind the scenes. Of course, Fernandez’s presence most likely was not going to change the result of the Man City game. Even then, Chelsea only hurt their own chances by going into it without one of their best players.
Unfortunately, Fernandez is not the only player who seems to be unsettled at Chelsea at the moment. One of his Argentine teammates could be eyeing the exit door as well, if his social media activity is anything to go by.
According to talkSPORT, Alejandro Garnacho could be the latest Argentine to be sanctioned by the club. He has removed all Chelsea videos from his TikTok account while reposting two Manchester United clips dedicated to him.
Garnacho’s Manchester United exit was messy as well
Of course, everybody will remember the manner in which Garnacho left Manchester United in the summer. Could he end up doing the same with Chelsea?
Garnacho’s season with the Blues has not been anything worth writing home about. The Argentine has scored eight goals and four assists. Those are not bad numbers, especially when you consider he has played less than 2000 minutes of football. But there needs to be more context to them.
Most of Garnacho’s goals have come in cup competitions. He has scored just once in the Premier League. That was back in October. His solitary goal in the Champions League came in November.
What does the future hold for Garnacho at Chelsea?
The thing is, Garnacho is not completely out of the picture at Chelsea. He continues to be featured, whether it be as a starter or off the bench.
Of course, in the big games, it looks like Liam Rosenior is more comfortable with a wing duo of Estevao and Pedro Neto. But Garnacho has not done enough to make that starting spot his own.
Could Garnacho end up being sanctioned as well? We do not know. Time shall tell. But at the very least, the situation needs to be discussed with him. The last thing Chelsea need right now is another disgruntled player.
